World's Longest Soccer Game • •
Dear Potential Volunteer:
Who hasn't been touched by cancer? In this day and age, not too many people can say they don't know anyone that has battled, successfully or not, against the disease. From June 28th until July 1st, 2012, a dedicated group of men and women, mostly from the Edmonton/Sherwood Park area, will be getting together to play a charity game of soccer to raise funds and awareness on behalf of the Alberta Cancer Foundation to hopefully put an end to this horrible disease. We will also be attempting to break the current Guinness World Record by playing for a minimum of 66 continuous hours.
This game will take place in Sherwood Park with two teams of 18 players each. Most of the players have been affected by this disease in one way or another and the majority of the players are repeat players from the successful world record event that occurred in 2008.
We are currently looking for volunteer referees for this event for various four hour shifts; in addition to medical personal (nurses, massage therapist's, physiotherapists , etc.), kitchen staff, and witnesses. We would like to ask if you could help by donating a few hours of time on June 29th, June 30th, and July 1st, 2012.
If you are able to help by volunteering or would like to hear about additional sponsorships (monetary donation or silent auction donations) please contact Michelle at 780-449-2780 or mchambers@shaw.ca
You can also visit albertacancer.ca/worldslongestsoccergame for more information.
Thank you in advance for your support of this very worthwhile cause. Without you, our volunteers, and supporters, it will not be possible to make this event a huge success.
Thank You from all the players,
Michelle Chambers, Andy Lindenaar, Wayne Zacharko
