Jeff Winter is likely the only member of a rather unique club. The English Premiership
official may be the only referee to have been cheered on to the field by the spectators at an
Alberta Major Soccer League game - even though the home team was losing at the time!

During a week long visit to Edmonton, organised and sponsored by EDSA and EMSA, Jeff
was officiating the AMSL fixture between Edmonton Ital-Canadians and Calgary Callies, at
Edmonton's Foote Field.

As the referee crew took to the field for the start of the second half, a group of about 30 local
officials who were in attendance at the game gave the crew a spontaneous round of applause,
leaving some of the 'non-referee' spectators perhaps wondering what was going on!

It was a great week for Edmonton referees, with an opportunity to learn from the experience of
a Professional Referee.
