Jeff's first on field activity of the week was an EMSA U18 boys game at Confederation
Park. Jeff refereed the game, assisted by two young officials from the EMSA program,
and held a clinic at the field before the game. One of the themes of the clinic was how to
prepare for a game, and Jeff's preparation involved figuring out how to handle the
'combination' football/soccer goals that we have in Canada!
The U15/U17 Girls National All Star Competition was in Edmonton the week that Jeff was
here, and he gladly accepted an invitation to be involved with the CSA appointed referees.
After spending an afternoon watching games, Jeff participated in a two hour discussion
with some of Canada's most promising young officials. One theme was conditioning,
and many of the group are now receiving Jeff's Premiership training routines weekly by
email. The program offers a much needed alternative to the simple 30 minute jog in the
park used by many people as training.
